Ski & Snowboard Holiday Checklist
If you are new to skiing or snowboarding, it can seem like you need a "mountain" of equipment to get kitted out, but if you use our checklist it might make life a bit easier for you to decide what to wear!
- Comfortable underwear that you would wear for sports and/or cold weather.
- A thermal layer that takes away the moisture from the skin.
- Ski or snowboard socks - ordinary socks can be uncomfortable in ski or board boots.
- Goggles or sports sunglasses (we prefer goggles with orange tinted lenses to give you all-weather protection).
- Warm, well fitting hat (or helmets can be hired in resort)
- Waterproof gloves or mittens (mittens are warmer, but it is harder to do up zips etc).
- Comfy, waterproof jacket and trousers with room for movement. (If you can get a jacket with opening vents, this will help you to cool down if you get too warm, otherwise go for layers that you can remove).
- Suncream & lipbalm (min. SPF15) - the sun reflects off the snow so you need plenty of protection.
- Slippers or comfy indoor shoes for inside the chalet.
- Swimming clothes for hot tub and swimming pool visits.
TK Maxx normally sells last seasons ski gear at low prices and Ebay is another good source of low price ski clothing. Look out for brands like Surfanic who offer good quality and well designed gear without the high price tags of other brands. If you forget or break something your hosts can point you in the directions of affordable shops in resort.
