Walks and Hikes from Bansko

Formed by glaciers, the deep troughs and narrow peaks of the Pirin range make beautiful Alpine walking with sixty peaks over 2500 meters.

The peaks are easily accessible using the Bansko or Dobrinishte chairlifts which run through the Summer and take you straight up to 2200 meters.

The scenery in the Pirin Range is quite breath-taking and there are over 140 glacial lakes as well as a number of huts, chalets and refuges which provide food and basic accommodation throughout the year.

Maps are available and the most popular routes are well marked but guides are also available to show you the lesser known trails and to point out some of the rare flora and fauna in the area.

The best months for walking are from June to October, with July and August being the warmest and August and September being the driest months. While the temperatures in Bansko town can reach 40 degrees inĀ August, hiking at altitude offers a pleasant respite from the heat.
